Anyone ever train with the Marrs bar?

I’ve been looking at these for a while now. I can’t think of another bar out there that reasonably mimics a heavy pack. Front squats, back squats, lunges and good mornings. Easy on the shoulders. Only thing slowing me down is the cost. $600+…just curious if anyone has used one before? Would love some real world feedback before I pull the trigger.

I have never seen that exact bar, but my gym has a very similar "yoke" squat bar.

It feels much more like a front squat loading. If you feel pretty good about your squat strength, that thing will humble you.

...reminds me that I should probably get off the couch and find my way back to the gym. I always fall off a little after hunting season.

This Rogue bar is very similar to the one I have used. I believe the brand at my gym is Elite.

I just started using one. I definitely like how you're in a more up right position, so it works for me. Less stress on my back.

My one critique of the bar that I have experience with is that the fat ends which hold the plates are slightly smaller than a regular straight barbell. Maybe 1/8" or so. The normal spring weight clips don't compress tightly on it and you have to use the clamp style clips.

I'm not sure if that is consistent across any other brands.

I talked to a guy who used another version of the safety squat bar, a Kabuki Transformer bar.
I always just assumed these were used for folks with shoulder mobility problems especially if they wanted to use a low bar squat technique or as close as possible to keep their hips as the primary mover and minimize their knees' involvement.

I had considered a safety squat bar. My old-man shoulders are a wreck but I'm a tightwad and I don't have room for another bar so I just made some handles with 1" PVC and 8mm climbing rope. (Disclaimer: I don't squat 400#)

I know the Marrs and safety squat bars have slightly different geometry. Supposedly the Marrs lends itself to more of a low bar squat position (unless you flip it around) vs the safety squat bar which really front loads the weight.

I assumed the Marrs bar was more low bar friendly considering that Strength Co was selling it.

I kind of lump all these bars into "safety squat bars" although that is probably not accurate.
