I'm gonna be gone a lot till fall. I see Anytime Fitness seems to have the most locations in the areas I frequent.

Any opinions or others to look at? The states I frequent are west of I-29, and often through the more rural parts.

Yes, been a member for awhile. They do seem to have more locations than about anyone else. When I travel in the western states hunting most locations seem to have one right near the interstate exits.

I was a member for about 6 years from 2008-2014, and have bought 2 week passes several times in the last 2-3 years when ones close to my work locations. They're a chain, but most independently owned, and done owners take much more pride in their gym VS others. They generally have everything a guy needs for weights, machines, and cardio equipment.

I’ve been a member for 2 years now. Perfect little gyms, especially for the traveler. They are more prevalent in the western states. Gym quality varies from location as they are independently owned. Most of the gyms I’ve visited have everything needed for my fitness program. I think my membership fee is $16 every two weeks.

Nice gyms generally, but cancellation policy is atrocious, in Canada at least. Be very clear when buying a membership you do not want auto renewal on. 60 days for cancellation to take effect.
Great for someone who travels a lot, just be aware of their policies.

I'm in a small Wisconsin gym not great facilitiy, but fine for me as I'm one of very few use the power rack and barbell. There are nice gyms near by if I want to drive a bit. I've been to many in different states gyms when traveling always welcoming. First thing I do when were going somewhere I check for a Anytime near by.

I’ve been a member for about 4 years. It’s nice that there are so many locations in southern Wisconsin because I travel a lot for work so I can just stop wherever makes sense. They’re all set up pretty similarly and kept pretty clean.

I have been a member since like 2012. There's a few franchises in my area. One is clearly better than some of the others. There are also enough of them, that I haven't been into each.

I really enjoy the local Anytime. It’s always clean and has good equipment. Small, but it works.

Pros: accessibility, price, friendly staff and usually clean
Cons: depending on the interests of the owner the quality of equipment can vary. Limited racks, bent bars, inaccurate plates. Accurate plates are pricey compared to Craigslist iron or bumpers.
When I go (which is rarely) I have low expectations and usually do a light workout so the plate discrepancies are not so apparent and I always feel I got my money's worth as long as someone doesn't spend 30 minutes doing curls inside a power rack.

There are guys (strong) who use these gyms on a regular basis and actually weigh the frequently used big plates and make small marks so they can keep heavy lifts at least symmetric if not accurate.
