Anybody made their own backpack?

I'm wondering if anybody has made their own backpack? I want to attempt one but am wondering what you would use to shape a torso pad. I'm thinking of using some closed cell foam but not sure how I would cut it to shape. Any suggestions?

I went with XPE from Seattle fabrics. Two layers glued together with spray adhesive. Rough carved it with an electric carving knife and sanded to final form.

unfortunately no. Had a mature whitetail duck an arrow from my longbow. Good shot, but made a little noise trying find a clear shot at his vitals through an opening and put him on alert.

I probably put about 18 miles with ~30 lbs in it. Only got 2 weekend trips in. Bit of a crazy year, didn't get out as much as I planned (baby, work, broken bow, etc). But the pack handled it great. Plus a couple of airline trips with it packed to the brim. This one is only 22", plan on making a 26" frame sometime this spring as well.

hopefully next year it it will pack out it's first animal.
