Looking at getting some new arrows. Any suggestions?
I used the maxima blue streaks last year and up until now. They are great arrows and shot extremely well.... with target points! Broadheads were a different story, they shot good but not great. Different POI than field points snd I could not get them tuned together. Last year I sighted in with broadheads before the season started and did all my practicing with broadheads before and through the season. Not a big deal but I would like them tuned together. Carbon Tech whitetails... now those can shoot bugholes all day with both broadheads and field points in the same POI. Less money than the maxima's as well. This was just my experience and Im sure other may have had the opposite but Carbon Techs are worth a look... they shoot period! I will say that the carbon techs are not quite as durable as the carbon express maxima's.. partly due to the nock collar. But like mentioned above I dont put much thought into toughness... Both will shoot targets and kill game. If you hit rocks and stuff I dont expect arrows to survive my mistakes. I am going to put the nock collars from my maximas on the CT whitetails this year and hopefully not bust as many arrows practicing. They fit the same.
My setup just prefers the spine of the CT whitetails over the maximas with both 100 and 125 grain heads, ymmv ... and they cost less, something to consider.
I believe you can split the difference and take half off each end and be fine.I bought a dozen without doing my homework. I have a short 26.5" draw length. Cutting these arrows down to size would essentially eliminate the "red zone" dual spine design and any advertised benifit. I sold them on ebay and am going to use my Maxima Hunter KV's again this year. My fixed blade broadheads are hitting EXACTLY where my field points are out to 70 yards right now.
