Any Turnpike Troubadours fans here?

“On the Red River” and “Heaven Passing Through” are my favorites so far on the new album. Enjoying this one a lot.
I’m really close with my dad and he’s getting older and starting to slip mentally, so “On the Red River” really hit me in the gut when I listened to it on the way to work this morning. Great song, but damn.

Heaven Passing Through…the part about washing x’s off the hands instantly took me back to Tuesday nights at Longhorns, upperclassmen bringing us beers to chug in the bathroom.

I really love how his music is written from the context of a life lived through several stages, being young and then not. I kinda always thought my dad’s music sucked but as it turned out I didn’t have the life experience to appreciate it.

That line definitely hits home.

Took me to The Stockyards, on the cowboy side of I35.

The whole album is epic. Every Turnpike album I put on takes me back to a certain sweet season in my life. I can tell this one will be the same. "On the red river" is my current favorite. But, like every good album, I'll have a new favorite in a couple of weeks, then another new favorite a couple of weeks after that.

I'm getting be a bigger fan by the day it seems, right now I'm listening to "unrung", "the rut", and "diamonds and gasoline" on repeat.
