You should definitely try to tie some from them. You can tie some really simple flies fairly easily that are very effective.

Been saying I'm gonna start.
Been picking up weird stuff for years in preparation.
Just picked up a big wad of Bison fur on Antelope Island.
Wife thinks I'm weird.

Very rewarding when you catch something on a fly you tie yourself.
Once your set up, its way cheaper in long run if you fish alot.

I got started with a vice and youtube. Fantastic and rewarding hobby and the first time that you catch a fish on one you tie is a great memory.

I’ve been tying for about 26 years now. I don’t make very elaborate flies. I stick to what I use the most on the waters I fish the most. My best ones will never be found in a fly shop because I made them up myself based on bugs I have seen and bugs I have pumped out of a trouts stomach.

Just an FYI, feathers for trade is considered migratory waterfowl for sale. Much better to give feathers and be pleasantly surprised at a gift in return.
Yeah, they get crazy with them feathers. Was at a NWR once, walking down a road and picked up a white feather. Park Ranger stopped beside me and told me I better throw it down, said it was an Eagle feather.

Started tying bucktails last January and found it highly rewarding. Plus, it's part of my heritage. Was awesome plucking a 15" walleye off a wing dam with my own creation.

If I didn't have more feathers than I know what to do with I would take you up on the offer. Tie some though! There are cheap fly tying kits out there, no need to get crazy. I love tying on a cold snowy day when I'm too chicken to go outside.

I tie a bit, kind of a hack but have a few patterns I can make pretty, the rest just catch fish.

Watch tightline video on youtube, dude is fantastic.
