Very jealous! Awesome pics! About 6 weeks out here in Wisconsin. Finding ramps and ostrich ferns now. I enjoy looking for pheasant backs and chicken of the woods as well. Fun to have things to do with the kids

I used to hunt them in Iowa every year. I’m sure they are around in Co. just not certain they are around at 8k ft.

Its getting close to time to start looking here in my area. Its something we look forward to every spring! I think in the next couple weeks we should start seeing some action if it warms up!

Colorado was a bust this year. Are those oysters?

A huge patch of Chicken of the woods. First ones I have found in two years. Been so dry the past couple of seasons. All the humidity, coupled with a bit of rain seems to be helping things along this year. We found some bi-color boletes as well today. That was a first for us. I think we identified them correctly. We only picked two though and cooked up small pieces. Tasted great and nobody came ill.

We have been taking baby steps with the shrooms. So far we have been successful with Chickens, hens, oysters, coral, bears head tooth and now boletes. Beareded bears tooth has been the favorite so far. Oysters are a close second. Chickens are just a treat to eat. Battered and deep fried is my favorite.

Sadly, some of my prime mushroom spots are likely on fire right now. We have some huge forest fires going on in the Cascades which is my prime area for fall mushrooms - not good :(

No, not good at all right now, but in so far as mushroom hunting goes, give a few months and you may change your mind. The Morel season is only about 7 or so months away.

I pick them for work and for home with lots of other wild edibles.
