Use them for target pratice whenever I get a chance. Hit a 10#r in the head with a 10mm Auto pistol - LOL. Told a friend that was exactly where I aimed.

One, 350 yards with a 7mm-08 and 163 gr amax. Almost missed it.

2nd one quartering towards me with a 270 win loaded with 95 gr Barnes TTSX over RL17 to around 3650 FPS at about 85 yards. Blew out one side of its ass and one ham was gone.

I enjoy culling them out of a chopper. I don’t enjoy putting in the effort to bowhunt them, so I stopped chasing them a few years ago. I do shoot the ones that get in the way and the last 5 got in the way in the last few weeks.

I’ve killed a bunch. Bows, rifles, shotguns, handguns, pocket knife and even a spear. Trapped them, caught them with dogs. These days they’re mostly targets of opportunity while hunting something else. My grandfather built and ran two hog hunting operations in TN, so I grew up around it. Last one I killed was a sow while on primitive weapons deer hunt back in the fall here in SC.C41AEE72-8B52-4FEA-94AD-1ECBC6BDC16E.jpeg

I was into handgun hunting for a while, and they’re the perfect game for that.

Not particularly a hog hunter but I've killed a few. One time while deployed to Iraq we went through an area and took every single AK we could find because we kept getting shot at all the time. Well a short while later the local farmers started complaining that the wild pigs were destroying their crops and they had no way of killing them anymore. Being the opportunists I am I gathered two teams up with a healthy amount of firepower and headed off for the marshes and wadis. Started off the adventure by lobbing 40mm HEDP grenades into the thickest part of the wadi. The marsh erupted with movement from the herds of pigs running through the reeds. We were hammering them with 5.56 as they ran past in the canals below us until they attempted to make a run for it across the open desert. A few efficient M240B gunners and a couple of us with M14s made quick work of that rather large group of pigs. We ended up with a Toyota Hilux bed full of pigs and took them back to the fire base leaving plenty in the field for the farmers to have. Turns out those turds do eat pork. We commandeered some BBQ sauce , onions and seasoning from the DFAC and enjoyed a nice cookout with some near beers. Fun times.

I have no stories that top this one. You win.

I was down at a buddies ranch (East of Sarasota, FL by about 20 miles) mid-February and ended up shooting 8 hogs while on the trip. My friend originally owned 170 acres and a few years ago was able to purchase property that butted up to it. This property was originally a golf course that went under and other that the club house (which had been trashed) and a few T-box markers and tar golf cart paths you would have never known a plush semi-private golf club existed their. No hogs of any significant size, but I did drop a double in their tracks the 1st night out.
