So I'm wondering if a 22 magnum rimfire with a 40 grain hollow point bullet will do any good on coyotes? It'll be head shots only, 80 yards and in. The rifle is a rossi rb22m 18 inch barrel. At 100 yards I'm stacking 10 shots inside a .5 moa circle everything is complete stock except the trigger. Will only be for one hunt until my new 22 creedmoor gets in hopefully next week, and I'm needing something to not tear the hid up to bad. Thanks! Edit: I do have a 17 hmr but I've got trust issues with it lol I've lost a few ground hogs and squirrels with the 17 hmr and I've never lost a ground hog or squirrel with my 22lr or 22 magnum, that's why I have trust issues with the 17 hmr.

I can tell you 22 shorts work well in that role. i have first hand experience with that.

Yes it will work well in the noggin, you will have runners in the ribs.

Absolutely, I would prefer that over the creedmoor if you’re staying under 100 for sure . 22mag is a killer!

Drops them with a head shot, never had one run. My son and I coyote hunt a lot, he brings his 22 mag occasionally and keeps the shots 150yds or less and only takes head shots. Proper placement in the vitals kills them also, but we would have a lot of runners and so now only do head shots. The pic attached was about 120yds.
