Whitetail hunter in the panhandle wanted to see how everyone’s seasons been treating them so far? Some cool weather in my area has resulted in good deer movement but I’m still seeing bucks bachelored up in some cases (saw a spike and really nice tall 8 cruising together this past weekend) which seems a bit late to me. I know we’re still a ways from our peak rut but just wanted to see if yall are also seeing bucks daylight in the panhandle. Thanks.

Saw one of the largest whitetail I've ever seen on public first week of archery when it was 80 and gross. Sat the same stand two evenings with that cold snap last week and saw one doe, hah.

If I'm reading the regs correctly, they canked the doe days that ran basically the entire general firearms season last year, which sucks. Would have been nice to find a freezer queen

Atleast you’re seeing shooters!! Glad to hear it! What part of the panhandle are you from?

I'd go more "saw one" than "seeing," the ten seconds I spent with my guy may well be the highlight of my season here haha. I'm actually in SE AL but hunt over the line in FL, bama's nonresident deer tags cost literally more than the elk tag I hunted this year
Trust me I know I grew up in north Alabama and go hunt there every year and the Nr tag is ridiculous….its almost as expensive as my Colorado otc elk tag I got this year too lol.

Signing in!

Slowest start I have ever had this year. 20 years of hunting the same spot. The only thing that has changed is my neighbors. A hot like I always hunted. They are the only variable and it has changed significantly. They are from south of here.

Looking forward to some of my public hunts.

In terms of when you will see Buck break apart and Scott pushing those in Northwest Florida it’s a little bit peculiar. As in months apart. If you wanna send me a PM, I will tell you what I know. In general mid January is my favorite time. But they were pockets where it’s mid February.
