Any First Hand Solus Barrel Experience?

Aero is having a stupid sale on some of their barrels. I happen to have a couple zermatts laying around and I've been kicking around the 6.5 PRC idea.

Has anyone shot one of their barrels? $200 for a spiral fluted barrel doesn't seem like the worst way to spend it. On the other hand, if it's a complete turd, then I have a big paperweight. I assume they're made by ballistic advantage.

My Aero Solus competition rifle with a 22" 6.5 creedmoor barrel (Sendero profile) shoots well. I haven't measured it, but it's sub 1 inch on 8-10 shot groups. I've thought about picking up one too.

Only ordered the one sporter, spiral fluted 6.5prc to throw on my origin. I'll probably get it cerakoted but we will see. I might kick myself for not getting more, again, we will see.

I'll post some pictures when it arrives. Looking forward to load dev on a completely new round for me.

Aero only sells chambered/shouldered barrels for their solus actions. They just happen to fit the Origin action as well.

Will do. Getting a barrel right when season opens is not the most conducive timing for a range report since i have to swap barrels but I want to shoot at least one with it so I'll have something within the next month or so.

Still waiting on it to get done at cerakote which is odd. My last barrel took all of one day. I'm getting the barrel done in a dark black and smoke grey on the flutes. Hopefully it's subtle and looks good.

Well i got it bedded and assembled tonight. I have 100rds of Norma Bondstrike on hand to break it in and I'm just waiting on my NX8 4x32 to make it in. The grey flutes will tie in with the scope. Found the stock for $350 and i couldn't say no. Im digging the way it turned out. Now to the range to see if it shoots worth a shit.

Me too, still haven't broke it in or shot it. I chambered a 25 western and that's been occupying that extra action. Seriously considering building a medium length action for the 25 and the 6.5prc though. Too many rifles and not enough time!

I have 2 Solus barrels in 6CM but have only shot one of them so far. With zero load development it will shoot .5 MOA. I think it has about 400 rounds through it and will send a 108 ELD M at 3160 fps from the 26” barrel. No complaints from me! A buddy has the same setup and his shoots better than mine with good load development.

My second barrel was snagged on super sale a while back. Once the rest of the parts are secured I’ll see how it shoots then if it’s good enough it will be cut to 18” and heavily fluted for a hunting rifle setup.

So how did the build turn out? I really wanna know is my 6mm creed is awesome, like the other gentleman with factory ammo im shoot half inch all day...had a few creep into one ragged hole territory...(must have been a few rounds with close SD's). I really wanna take one and build a 6.5 PRC hunting setup. Cutting it down to 18" just kinda neuters it IMO, but I guess an 18" PRC still has more power than a cut down 6.5 creedmoor. Which I'm not one of this idiots that can't smoke a whitetail with a 24" creedmoor either. With thst said, a 6.5 PRC in 24" using quality ammo would be a really hammer, ans I wouldn't have to carry my Savage Tactical thats gradually become much more of a range gun than a killer.. any thoughts
