Anyone out there have any experience with the turtleskin , forevelast half leg or scent locker snake gator? The latter two are quite a bit less money but don't have the reviews the turtle skin do. Also, any advice on hiking boots out there to stop a pit viper.? Thank you

Hiking boots or snake boots?

I'm on my third pair of Cabela's Pinnacle snake boots. They zip and are as comfortable as tennis shoes to me. But they are snake boots and not hiking boots.

If you're walking in alot of water, which I do, Lacrosse rubber snake boots are the best I've found. As far as the best walking/hiking boot, Irish Setter Vaprtrek snake boots get the nod.

Having had a couple Paris of snake boots, I would go with hiking boots + snake gaiters. The boots are all crap. I don't think there is a snake boot on the market that doesn't leak out of the box.

My Chippewa's are going strong after 6years.

To the op forever last mast a great product especially at their price point. Their snake boots use same design as the old danner sharp tail snake boots.(which where extremely comfortable)

I use the Turtle skins here in Az. They are IMO the best out there. They are lightweight and minimize the sweating underneath. I have not had the misfortune of testing out their claims, but I walk with supreme confidence that they will work when the time comes. Highly recommended.

I agree 100%

Not exactly a perfect answer to the op's question but a similar approach to mine could be worth looking at. I do a lot of beaver work in the tiver bottoms and encounter a good number of cottonmouths each year. I wear hip boots PLUS a 'full protection' pair of chaps made by Snake Guardz (Crackshot Corp.). I get mine from Outdoor Country in Texas. They have a pair of gators that look great also.
