Any business litigation attorneys here?

Small claims & or collections. Brothers owns a fairly big business and has spent lots and lots of time with lawyers both suing and getting sued… only people who win are. You guessed it lawyers. He has gotten to the point where he has gotten most of his ego out of it because he knows the financial stress and headache that litigation brings. Maybe you can find an attorney to send a letter for a few hundred bucks but if they spend anytime doing anything it will be 3k easy.

If it cost me $4k to get $4k, I might do it on principle. After some research it’s a common thing from this company. He needs to meet someone who costs him money to play his stupid game

Brother, I get it. But as hard as it is. You might have to check some ego. Some fights are not worth it. Wrestling with a pig comes to mind. I have the same mentality so does my brother. You learn quick that we have a “legal system” not a “justice system” it will likely cost more than 4k and you will have nothing to show for it other than stress and bills. ( well I would wish it on the POS who stiffed you) I would not wish that on anyone. I think you get a collections company to hound him and or small claims court, it will be a giant PITA for him and if you have good proof will likely go your way and you won’t just be paying a lawyer

I worked in my home town which was small and the surrounding small towns. Word travels fast. You let one person get to you and a lot of them give it a try.

Having said that, I have had thousands of unpaid debt in the last 50 years.

Another lawyer story. It was a Morton building that we poured the shop floor and constructed a 8 x 8 bathroom in the corner. OSB on the outside. Drywall finished and painted on the inside.
Lawyer called and said he wanted $1000.00 off the invoice because there was paint splatter on the floor. I looked and there was. I said we would clean all that up , to which he said we could never get it clean enough to suit him. It was then I knew

I had some high end ceramic tile, thin set, and grout left over from a previous job. I decided to call his bluff. I called and said instead of cleaning we would lay a ceramic floor. Of course he declined and received his $1000 deduction. As I suspected it was all about money .

Is it possible that I could sell this case to a collections agency at a discount and move on?

I believe you hand it to them and they take a percentage of the overall recovery. I will say my brother has had pretty good success with them, I’ll ask if he has an agency that his likes.
