Any Arrowhead Hunters out there?

Where does a guy even start to look? I’m in southern WI and have never found one. Seems like there is some native history along the river, but I wouldn’t know where to look.

Where does a guy even start to look? I’m in southern WI and have never found one. Seems like there is some native history along the river, but I wouldn’t know where to look.

I live in East Tennessee and we find a lot on waterways here just look for fields or flat areas on the main water ways find some steep washed out banks and have fun.

My dad used to take us out to walk the corn fields after school. Any plowed field next to a stream will work to turn up a few more every year. We also found a lot around large springs. People wandered over most of the United States at some point in the past 12,000 years. There are a lot of arrowheads out there.

I've only ever found one and it was small with the tip broken off.

I’ve got a few that also came from the PNW, displayed in frame, and are glued to the backing. Have you ever tried to remove the glue on any?

I have not but it shouldn't be too difficult i would think. Maybe try something like goof off first, then maybe something a bit more aggressive.

I've never seen one like this. I'll add that when you come across a special site with multiple artifacts, consider taking some pics and asking a local archeologist about the significance of the site. Some are unknown and provide a real wealth of knowledge if left undisturbed. An area I was working in had a known human history of 2000 years. After the project, that known history was significantly rewritten.

I would suggest waiting until after hunting season if that's "your spot".

Something I've noticed pretty consistently around the Great Basin, is that the same places I find arrowheads have deer. No arrowheads, then usually, few/no deer.

Look along banks of creeks/rivers, etc right after a storm, especially right at sharp bends or gravel bars.

How big is that point in the middle? I have one that looks similar that came from southwestern Oregon a long time ago. It’s too large to be practical. I had it checked out and it’s called a wealth point. Apparently it was a status symbol.

Man, those are some great petroglyphs...

My day of hunting was done after finding them. A huge section of boulders covered in them. When I found the one with all the big deer, I thought I was in the right spot. Probably was, but just 8-10,000 years too late.
