Any Alaska residents here?

put your name on the list for one of those 1 man drones. travels 60mph, can fly for 45 minutes and it lands virtually anywhere. that gets you at least 20 miles back and you only need a 10' opening anywhere to land it and take off...straight up and straight down... it even lands by itself, safely if you are unable to. they are sold out for 2025 and 2026...that gives you time to save up that 120K for 2027. just think of the places, anywhere, that you could hunt. no more land locked public hunting area problems. no pilot license necessary...no medical nonsense either.

maybe go in with a few other hunters on the cost.
Only allowed to use fixed wing aircraft for hunting

And, from an aerodynamic perspective, those drones are sketch. Usually too low for a parachute to reliably deploy, can't autorotate, glide ratio of a brick. If you lose an engine you are pretty much guaranteed to die

How much time have you spent bird hunting Idaho? We’ve got fantastic waterfowl and upland in southern Idaho until end of January, you can trap wolves in Idaho quicker out of Boise than out if los anchorage. My hunting partner traps all winter in sight of the Boise lights.

We can ice fish here and fish open water all winter, plus the daylight lasts longer than 5 hours.

Ak does have its pluses although most of the places I hunted as a kid are either over run or closed to non subsistence.
I've avoiding trapping the foothills because of the rabid hippies. If I knew someone with private property I would.

I've been bird hunting with friends here and I'm not into it. Either planted fields or hiking around the desert all day for a couple of chicken nuggets.

The duck hunting here has gotten really crowded. I get really tired watching tons of them avoid public land and fly right to private ponds so I usually end up just paying for one good day every season.

I would guess our group killed 500 chukars, Huns and quail, within 2 hours of Boise. I know I killed over a 100 within a 2 hour drive last year.

Danskins are hippy free as are the owyhees, both within an hour of the metro.

Don’t know about waterfowl..

Biggest wolf track I've ever seen was in the Danskins.
