He may be substantially underestimating the height that anvil reached.

It had about six full seconds of airtime, which means the apex would have reached nearly 150 ft. :oops:

Hard to know without the take off velocity. If you know that you can figure the height based on the time. But without the velocity, it is hard. I am not great at physics tho, so help me out there...

The initial velocity at the apex is zero, and it isn’t moving fast enough for air resistance to matter, so all you need is the time divided by two plugged into the freefall equation:

s = (1/2)gt²

Yep that's right. But that is where the time is critical. Time squared means a little error means several feet of height difference.

Thanks for the formula, I have forgotten way more physics than I ever learned

For sure, but even if was only five seconds of hangtime, that still easily puts it over 100 ft.

I think the «bang» and «thud» are distinct enough to estimate the height reasonably well — let’s say easily within 10 ft if you timed it with a proper stopwatch or counted frames. 🍻

Watch the ones with his homemade cannon and bowling ball mortars. Very interesting.
Also a couple where Cy must talks. Well worth the time.

My grandmother had an old metal milk barrel, at least that is what I was told, a basket ball sat perfectly on top sealing it, drop in an m80 or a 1/4 stick and launch it!

Never tried a half stick figured it would be too much?

Blowing up stuff is fun. I used to make sparkler bombs back in the day with my brother. Just dont be an idiot like this guy:

Yes! This guy wanted a redo immediately, unfortunately you don’t get any when things go south this rapidly. Having a hard time understanding the logic of shooting 3lbs of it at only 25 yard distance. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
