My son took this deer last night. It was with a group of smaller bucks but this one was the only one still in velvet so decided he wanted it. After we pulled it out to the field edge and flipped it over to begin field dressing, we were surprised to find out it was a doe. That would explain why it's still in velvet this late. We left the female parts attached and showed it to a DNR buddy of mine. I've heard about this happening but this is the first time I've seen it myself. 20240925_195246.jpg 20240925_200536.jpg

Most likely it’s a hermaphroditic deer. I shot one a couple years back, a mule deer. The fishing game people were quite giddy about it, and claimed to even have found under developed penis tissue in the back end area. 😳
