Unfortunately the fines never seem to "hurt" enough. I don't necessarily think the prison system needs to be clogged with this type of moron. But, a 500k fine may change some of these idiots way of thinking.
They can only take so much at a time so unless the guy has the assets to be charged 500K, it would be worthless. They probably wouldnt get anywhere close to it before the dude croaked.

That’s why for guys like this, they should sentence him to a significant enough amount of community service that it would occupy all his time when he’s not at a job.

A fitting punishment would be to make him work for FWP, who could issue him a headlamp and some waders and make him clean trash out of pit toilets for a couple of years.

Yep, you are correct. I need to read a little more carefully, haha. It does seem like the Lacey Act felony charge is connected to this more recent violation and he received 90 days of house arrest, and another 5 years of probation and hunting restriction. I don't see any fines associated with the recent violation. So hopefully more is coming his way because that doesn't seem like enough to deter him from just going and doing it again.
Here's an updated one from the USFS. I still don't see any new fines, so hopefully sentencing is still underway. However, it does disclose that he has yet to pay any of his court ordered restitution from the previous conviction.

Not a bad idea.

I support this minus the waders part. I vote we give him some glad trash bags and a roll of duct tape.

The reason he lives in Montana? he got run the hell out of WY for good reason
