care to elaborate?
they seem to have adressed most of what i would discredit on the previous packs. it also looks like theyve chosen to use many concepts proven by other manufacturers that many users have come to love.

dont get me wrong, its not like ill be buying one, im perfectly happy with my emr/bikini combo but after lots of customer supported R&D it looks ok.

I'll believe that they can build a quality pack when I personally use one for a season and it doesn't break. And that won't be happening anytime soon. I'll stick with Kifaru until they fail me.

Yeah it is one thing to make a pack with similar features but only time will tell if all components are quality, frame would still be the main concern.

I'm waiting for the KUIU Ultra Pro Extreme Hunter 8000 Performax Extended Range Backcountry Survivor Series backpack to come out. Don't get me wrong, I like some aspects of the bags, but why offer it? I'm guessing they're planning on phasing out the Icon since the price point is only $50 more.

The clothing is awesome. The packs not so.. from what I had. Not bad, but not good! I sold my gen 1 pack and two bags. Since then I have a Kifaru DT1 and bought a Hi-camp bag for my sheep hunt this year. They are IMO a good pack but not a great pack. Maybe this will change. I like what I have and and there are a'lot more offerings out there if you want a very light weight pack. Just no real reason for me to change from a great pack that is so adjustable to something that is not. IMO ?I like what I have bought and the durability and to adjust the pack to to fit me like no other pack! The Kifaru brand is very well built ..cost's a'lot but you will not have to buy again. The guy building this stuff has more years doing this than all of the others. Do your self a favor and try one on! I did like the way the waist belt tightened on my Kuiu pack better than all of the packs I have bought. But that doesn't make the load easier. The other thing I didn't like about my KUIU pack was it squeeked all the time! No way I could figure out how to make it quite. Maybe they have a way to make it stop! Glad I sold the KUIU and bought the Kifaru! Test the pack out and see if it fits you and carries the weight you might have to hual. This might be the pack that fits You! It did not do the job for me. They may have gotten better? Bob.

is this like 5 versions in 5 years? When people said they were hesitant because it was a new pack and they didn't want to do the R and D for KUIU, they claimed to have done extensive research, prototypes, and testing and promised that they had gotten right on the first try. It obviously baited many folks in.

They are proof that just copying the best and pretending that using buzz words like "ultralight" and "carbon fiber" doesn't make up for hard work, actual knowledge, and mostly.... experience.

Then when people call them on it, they pout and pull their sponsorship hahahaha

That said... I really hope they get it right. For the consumer's sake. For one, the more in the market, the more innovation we will see. Prices will be kept in check, etc. But more importantly, people will not get tricked into buying "the best KUIU bag ever" only to have another "best" come out a year later.... and watch the resale value of their expensive pack fall down to nothing because there is no demand.

I personally don't think they'll ever make a great pack and if they did, I wouldn't buy one. Just don't care for their business model. Lots of other great pack companies out there that don't seem to have the problems they do. AND I still will buy "America Made" if I can.

That's also includes the bag. Cannot buy belt and shoulder harness alone.

For those that are interested, if you go to the 1850 icon pro, hit the pattern you want then the drop down you can clearly just buy the suspension only, not an option on the 5200/7200. I also called Kuiu to see if they intended to offer the new belt as an option for the 2013 icon and the answer was yes, soon.

I will be giving the new belt a go when its available.

There will be an adapter available soon to allow the icon pro to work on the 13 icon frame. That's what customer service told me on the phone today. I'm gonna order the pro 1850 and adapter hopefully they get the adapters in before my oct. Elk hunt or I'll be using my 7200 compressed.

so icon pro bags adapted to icon frame???? That would mean that the ultra bags should adapt too.

If they are thinking an adapter for the new belts than that would be cool too, but unlikely a priority for Kuiu so I am not too optimistic it will be anytime soon
