I've been to Unit 65 once without sealing the deal, but we are planning to head back this year for revenge. We hiked in about 6 miles and stayed out 8 days. Saw quite a few elk, foolishly missed a cow. Had some luck with calling in cows with lost calf calls, but bulls were quiet during the last week of August.
This year we are going to go with my hunting partner's dad and are planning to just do a few spike camps from a central location (or two). We've scoped out a couple of spots that would work for this, but I don't want to overlook anything. If anyone has any tips for the area, please PM me.
We are coming out from the Midwest for the first week in September and would be ecstatic to drop a cow (or two), not necessarily looking for a bull.
