Hey Guys. I use scale down targets with scaled down loads to practice long range shooting sometimes.
Recently been using this old ( early 50’s) Animal range comparison chart to compare different optics and magnification levels. I also find it useful to see the difference between mounted and unmounted binoculars on tripods has on seeing smaller or further away game.
The chart is not perfect but is fairly accurate when I compare it to deer and dogs a mile or two down the beach from me.
In addition the directions call for standing 5 feet away. I set the chart 35 feet away so
100 yards = 700 yards or .4 miles
200 yards= 1400 yards or .8 mile
300 yards= 2100 yards or 1.2 miles
400 yards = 2800 yards or 1.6 miles
500 yards = 3500 yards or 2 miles
Hope it helps you guys in choosing/comparing optics for your next adventure
Any feedback or tips in making this work better would be appreciated
