Hello All,

I am going to have an opportunity to spend a few days in Anchorage next year for work. It will likely be early June (2026). I'd like to go fishing. Not after anything specific - mainly just want to experience the country, have some fun, and ideally take some fish home although I'm not against a catch and release trip.

Any recommendations out there for a 1 day experience?

I'd call Mossy's fly shop and see if they can put you in touch with somebody.

In addition to that, you could also fish Campbell creek right there in town.

Early June can be good for halibut with the charters. It can be touch and go with the weather though. I fish a lot out of Seward and some of our best days have been in June. You can also get into some saltwater Kings that’s time of year.

Come to Kodiak. Not biased at all 😅

You’d prob have to get down to Seward or Homer (and you’d catch 1 halibut)

Or come to Kodiak and catch a limit of everything. Halibut, rockfish and June is typically very good for catching cod. Probably a little early for salmon, but not unheard of either.

Could fish ship creek for kings, right in anchorage and should be about prime time for them. You can rent all the gear you need from the bait shack right on the creek. If you wamt a better chance at a king the bait shack does guiding on the creek as well.

Ship Creek would be an option, and it's right in town.
Kasilof, if it's open, would be another option. IF it is open it would be hatchery fish only, but very pretty area
