That was once said of compounds then cross bows now this arrow gun. Everyone wants a piece of archery season that's for sure

I definitely think compounds definitely make it easier to shoot but your still pulling a string back, holding it back yourself while aiming. That's what I consider archery anyways. I wouldn't call crossbows and this archery because the "archer" doesn't hold the string or arrow back by themselves.

Funny the Archers in the early 70's said the same thing about Compound bows. It will happen. Personally I dont see an issue with it. That thing is plenty powerful enough to take any game as seen in the video. You still have to get relatively close . It will get resisted just as crossbows have for years but then it will become a new norm just like compound bows in the 70s and 80s. Look at us now. Many States have already passed crossbows during Archery season.
Eventually the Crossbow will be become part of archery season and this will become to new Taboo. Its pretty impressive really. I love innovation its part of what makes humans an interesting bunch =-)

/ducks the bottles and rocks.....

The problem that has plagued archery is the ability to pick up equipment and be proficient with it. Trad gear is obviously most difficult, compounds were obviously a step up, but they still need time and practice and as we all know it's still a tuff gig. Well crossbows and now this thing take the "difficulty" out of archery, which leads to more lazy hunters opting in to archery, which leads to more harvest which leads to fewer and fewer tags available.

If it has a stock it should be in the gun category, have no problem with people using them, just have a problem with what you call it.

All kidding aside do you feel there is line somewhere

There's absolutely a line between archery and other methods of take, but I'd use one of these just for the heck of it. Should it be allowed in the archery seasons? Of course not. I like the "max 80% letoff" rule. This and crossbows can't pass that muster and therefore should not be included in archery seasons. Of course if and when they get rid of that rule, then everything is legal that shoots an arrow or bolt. They could also just eliminate laws altogether, and crime would go to zero.

Guarantee cross bows could be worked to pass the let off rules in some states, this obviously not so much

they have invented rifles allready.........................
I agree that these things and crossbows can ruin what archery should be.
Much the same as muzzle loaders with high power scopes that shoot 4-500 yards.
If you want to shoot a bow, shoot a bow. If you want to shoot a gun, shoot a gun. dont try and mix them into some contraption
