I have a .308 savage axis II that I've used for the past year. I've used federal 168 grain that seems to work the best. I've tried a couple of different grains with winchester but doesn't seem to work as good. Does anyone have the same rifle that can give me information on which grain works for them?

I use probably the same ammo as you. 168 grain HP, it’s the cheapest i have by me and it defiantly does the trick

I don't have the same rifle, but wife and son both have 308's and they both absolutely hate anything over 150gr, one is 1/10 twist and the other is 1/12. Son's is a little better with heavier projectiles but still not acceptable. They both shoot 150gr Core Lokt and Federal blue box amazingly well, and 150gr Fusion PDG.

My Savage LWH shoots commercial Precision Hunter (178 gr) very well. It also shoots commercial Federal Terminal Ascent (175 gr) very well.

Yeah it definitely works. I've killed some elk with it but just wanted to see what others use. Thank you.

Brother has the 308 axis as his farm truck gun. It’s a 1/10 twist and shoots the federal 168 and 175 match kings really good, along with the Hornady 168 eld match.

My 20" R700 Varmint shoots incredibly accurate with 165gr Sierra Gamekings BTSP over 44grs. of RL 15. Another load that shoots lights out is the 180 Hornady SST over 42grs. of RL 15. I haver really messed with factory ammo but there are loads similar to what I just listed.

I have a Savage Axis 2 veil woodlands edition. It shoots Barnes 168 gr vortex at 1/2 moa. When I was breaking the barrel in with 150gr Tula, it was shooting them a little over 3/4 moa. One of the most accurate rifles I’ve ever owned. Scope is a vortex crossfire 4-12.
