I have gen2 Ranch in 22 ARC that is a shooter, and I converted from AR to AICS mags. But even tho the gen2 stock is better than the gen1, I still can't love it. So I got a new MDT TimbrCore walnut stock with mini chassis that I was curious about, and having plenty of AICS mags to try. Swapped out today, and am liking it. After the swap I took a poke at my 200 yard 5x9 middle gong to check zero. No change.......

I might just swap the gen1 Grendel stock for the gen2 take-off......

How much does the stock weigh? Cheek weld height sufficient?

Thanks, I've been eyeing the MDT grndpod, along with the TimbrCore chassis for my new Tikka T3X lite in 6.5 CM. I really like your set up!

Your other posts have me looking at the Woox also, it's a really tough choice between the two. You mentioned the Woox is better engineered because the MDT required you to disassemble the mag-release. On the Tikka model, this is not the case, so that's not an issue. Also, with the MDT flat bottom fore end it seems easier to attach a pic/arca rail?

Can you elaborate on the differences and why you prefer each one?

Edit to add: Have you seen the MDT XRS chassis with the timbr kit accessories? Looks pretty good too...

The MDT Timbrcore is kinda cheaply built. The butt spacers aren't that good of fit to the walnut, but not a big deal. All sling studs are just simple wood screws. The double studs up front don't even have T-nuts and threaded studs. Makes it harder to install a rail without threaded inserts. And it's kinda blocky/chunky with a way-too-big barrel channel for factory barrels as 99% of the people buying them for Ruger Americans are not going to rebarrel with a 1 1/4" contour aftermarket. I would much rather see, at most, a varmint contour inlet, as anybody rebarreling bigger wouldn't be bothered by having to open it up, if needed. The Woox is more streamlined with a much superior chassis, but a less vertical grip and smaller palmswell. Hence my favoring it, over the MDT......

Wow, thanks for the feedback, that's kind of surprising with MDT's reputation. I would like to get a CF proof barrel for my Tikka, so maybe that barrel channel is a good thing for me... You have two of them, so I guess it doesn't bother you too much?

On the other side, I've heard mixed reviews on Woox quality control and the wood-metal connection getting loose over time. Any issues for you? Ever tried out their other models like the Exactus?
