Is it really worth it anymore?
I fully understand in the grand scheme of life, this is small potatoes. And the have to have it now mentality does not help.

But what used to be items to your door in 2 days has turned into up to a week.
Free returns, are now buy a label or drive 45 minutes to the closest UPS store to ship for free.
I rarely watch TV so prime TV is not something I care about. I don't need Amazon cloud service.
Price is pushing $200.00 a year, while the welfkins can get it for less than half price.

I have to wonder if I would have $200.00 in shipping a year.

So, are you telling us you don't need it or asking us if you would have $200 in shipping in a year?
Nah, just venting because I can't get my stuff in 2 days

Seriously, I think with looking at what I spend, and the fact I am a cheap bastard and will drive 45 minutes vs. buying a label. I have to think what shipping I do have may not total the yearly price of prime

Bailed on it years ago. I got pissed when I had prime because they would take forever to get my stuff to me. It wasn't 2 days. I said screw it and cancelled my Prime. I swear I started getting my stuff faster.

The TV stuff was never part of it for me.

Yeah, Bezos is the bait-n-switch king. Just wait another 20 years when everything will come from just a few companies and just a few big banks. You think stuff is expensive now? Just wait. That's why I will buy nothing from Amazon. If you only knew what his and Jamie Dimon's(JP Morgan) end game was. One merchant and one bank. Thankfully, The Walton's are trying to stop the Bezos merchant take-over. JP Morgan has an even larger world-wide footprint. Every President, Prime Minister and even the commie dictator's world-wide seek Dimon's financial advice, council and financing. Kind of scary, really.

I use it. The higher the gas prices go up, the better deal it is. I can get on Amazon and find what I need in a few minutes, then let them bring it to me. Or I can spend half a day fighting traffic driving to stores with crap selection and not what I need while burning time and gas.
If I know a local store has what I need Ill go buy it, especially if I can pick it up on the way home from work, but otherwise I tend to just get online and order direct from a vendor or Amazon.
I dont use Amazon cause I want the thing right now. I use it cause I hate wasting half a day driving to town trying to find a store that has the thing.

I cant imagine it would take too much time and gas savings to cover the annual fee. And avoiding the city rat race traffic and people is priceless.

Just the other day I ordered Toyota brand valve cover gaskets for my kids rig and a Trampled by turtles vinyl record.
Damn sure Im not driving around town trying to find a record shop, and the Toyota dealership is a ways away and likely doesn't stock 3rd gen 4runner parts.
I probably saved $20+ in shipping, $20+ in gas and 3+ hours of my time in that one order. If I value my time at $20 hr, then I likely saved $100 right there.

But if you don't order stuff, and enjoy driving to town and shopping maybe its not worth it for you. My wife doesn't use it, she likes shopping.

Agreed that in Alaska that it pays for the shipping cost pretty fast.
Often packages arrive before the quoted time then when checking out.
It helps there is Amazon Prime airplanes that land in Anchorage daily and a sorting facility also.
They also have Prime delivery vans that drop off at your home but not to the mailbox.

We use ours kind of like a costco membership, need dishwasher tabs prime, trash bags prime kids snacks prime.

We watch their tv stuff as well

I have a lot of regular use items such as coffee, toothpaste, deodorant etc on subscription on a Prime cc that earns 5%, sometimes 7% if you agree to slower shipping. Those savings can add up pretty quick and eliminate having to think about buying mundane items that are a PITA when you run out
. At the same time, at a lot of Amazon local deliveries are passed off to USPS which is struggling big time right now: lost packages, week at a time with no deliveries, USPS contractors dumping entire neighborhood's packages on the ground at the mailbox stations. While that doesn't directly reflect on Amazon, it is a huge problem that I've ultimately been dealing with.

We use Amazon for the random inconsequential stuff that doesn't warrant buying quality - I view it in a similar light as Harbor Freight tools. We've kept it also for Prime Video movies, but even that charges you $4-5 to watch most movies these days. May be time to pull the cord...

Why do you have to pay for a label if you have prime?
I just use either the: 1) no box no label free 2) box needed and choose the location I will take it back to

We've never paid for shipping.

We use prime a lot. I think it’s great. I’d rather support local business but that isn’t doable a lot of times. And it’s a lot easier and cheaper than driving around looking for what I need.
I feel like in our area it’s gotten faster. There are a couple things that take longer but not many. A lot of stuff is next day now. Last weekend my wife ordered something at10:30 pm and it was on our porch by 7 am the next morning.

My wife once ordered running shoes from Amazon and received valve cover gaskets. Not yours but for a Mustang.

I don't have Prime. Last order from Amazon supposedly addressed to me ended up being delivered in Texas. Only use them as a last resort!
