I know this isn’t a health/Dr forum but I’ve posted random stuff here before and figured I’d ask anyway. If it’s in a wrong spot please delete.

I’m a 28 year old and I’m always tired… I wake up, want to fall back asleep. Lunch time (If I do eat) want to take a nap. 8-8:30 on a Friday night? Want to go to bed. I have a very busy life, I run 2 companies, am married, just had my first kid 8 months ago and I try to hunt/fish in the time I can. I run 2 separate construction companies and I am physically in the field 1-4 days a week doing the work myself. I don’t workout after work, I usually don’t have the time. 3 years ago I was around 225-235. Now 3 years later I’m at 275. I’m 6’7 or 6’8 so I know I should be heavier than most, but I am curious to see what everyone thinks?
Also, I eat as healthy as I can. No fast food, no take out, wife or I cook 6 of 7 nights a week. I eat breakfast at home and bring a lunch to work.

Stress will cause you to put on weight the same has starchy and sugar food will.

I have been thinking that stress is most likely causing a lot of these problems.. I just don’t know how to “limit” stress. My wife calls me a worry wart all the time.

Testosterone? A blood draw can tell you.

I guess that’s not a bad idea either.. could I be losing that much at 28 though? Not to sound naive but I thought it was more typical in older men? Like 40-50+

Sleep apnea? Take a sleep test.

I did that already, they said my sleep was normal.
I’ve been tossed around to like 4 or 5 doctors and the bills are getting to be a waste of money haha sorta why I came to post on here.

Typically, but I think it's possible at your age.

I’d also recommend you track your calorie intake for a month. Get an app like LoseIt and be diligent about adding every little thing that you eat or drink. That app in particular has great crowd sourced info on calorie counts for just about anything under the sun and makes data entry simple.

It will give you a baseline idea of what your caloric intake is and weight gain starts and ends with that info in my experience.

I did that and I fall on a normal day around 25-2700 a day depending on if I’m in the field or not. I didn’t think that was to much considering how tall I am and being active in the field most days

I'm 34... been feeling the same as you describe for years... finally heard enough to get my testosterone tested, and i was way low. Been taking replacement therapy for about 4 months now and definitely notice a difference, but think i still need my dosage upped a little more, going to the doctor on a couple weeks to re-check my levels and reevaluate... but id highly suggest getting it checked.... im a journeyman lineman.. outside physical work all day, and i go to the gym 4-5 days a week at 430am before going to work... but have struggled to put on any muscle in years and would have days where after lunch i literally couldn't hold my eyes open...i knew i should be doing better for being healthy etc... and finally got sick of it enough to do something about it. Happy to be on a better path now

Get a full blood work up to include a complete thyroid panel,. You might have an auto immune response like hashimotos. If not try and use iodine supplement

Cutting carbs ( all bread, most fruits, rice, beans, pasta, sugars etc ) helps my overall energy levels and sleep. Try and keep caffeine in check

Sounds like stress a possibility too. See a Dr for some stress relieving exercises. Really hot saunas followed by ice cold shower helps me

Good luck

Hypothyroid
Low Testosterone
Sleep Apnea

Those are the top 3 in my differential.

First two can be ruled out with simple blood work.

Last one your pcp can assess and order a sleep study if they feel it’s likely you have it.

Anemia would be low on my differential given your age but just get some routine lab workup and most things can be ruled out.

Owning your own businesses make stress management hard. It’s a killer.

There are a couple things to ponder. How’s is your sugar? Is it high? If you are getting sleepy after eating you maybe over eating at the classic meal times. Try 5-6 smaller meals. It regulates sugar levels and if you eat smaller meals, your blood sugar will regulate lower. More energy will be the results. Check your A1C to tell you if your eating habits are causing blood sugar issues.

Do you have a healthy stomach? Meaning, are you absorbing minerals and vitamins properly? A blood test could tell you the answers to that. You’d be surprised how many people have this problem. So, don’t dismiss it.

Are you sleeping properly? Do you snore? You may have sleep apnea. Which is a miserable existence. It leads to sone of the issues you are experiencing. So, look into it. Your health demands it.

No doubt with the weight gain, your testosterone is likely low. So, that might be something to try and boost naturally with the above advice. Lay off the alcohol if you drink. Even socially. It puts physical fitness on the back burner. A week of hard work will be over rode with a evening of 4-5 beers.

And last but definitely not least, are you depressed? The stress you’ve described as your normal life will lead to this. You might not even notice if you are. But, if demanding responsibility rules your life paired with your symptoms, it’s a guaranteed that you are. Not to be confused with a mental disability. But, the results of having no relaxing personal time association.

I’ve experienced sone of these things personally. My stomach is screwed up. I don’t absorb vitamins and minerals properly since having chemotherapy.

I have no gall bladder and it causes a very acidic stomach if I don’t eat every three to four hours. Which is how I learned about blood sugar regulation. Small meals of clean food did wonders for my energy and my stomach issues.

And, I’ve spent the better part of my adult life working way to much versus my recreation time. Owning two businesses myself, I can relate to the overwhelming drag they can put on you.

Whatever your issue/issues are, investigate now to find them. You are almost half my age. I’d give a lot to go back and get the knowledge I have now, at your age on how to better enjoy the short time we have on this planet. Good luck and God Bless
