Up for sale is a used Alpacka Explorer 42. If you are not familiar with the Alpacka 42, it is somewhere between the Forager and the Mule. It was designed to be either a one or two-person boat, although two is a bit of a tighter fit.

I’ve owned this boat since December 2023, after buying it from Montana-based Backcountry Packrafts. It had seen almost no use from them and came to me with just a few rubs on the bottom, but it does have their name and number on the boat by the Alpacka logo.

I’ve used it a number of times on flat water, and it is still in great shape. I discovered two small leaks last week, which I repaired with Aquaseal on the outside and Gorilla tape on the inside, per Alpacka instructions (see images). One of them looks like a cut but is actually a scratch through the outer later of material, but was seeping air. The raft has been holding air for three days with no issues, post-repair.

Couple details about the boat:
  • Cargo fly equipped (zipper)
  • Overall length: 110 inches
  • Width: 38 inches
  • Weight with cargo fly: 8.3 lbs
  • 600 lb capacity
  • Bathtub floor (not self-bailing)

Includes:
  • Inflatable seat
  • Inflatable back rest
  • Back rest for second passenger
  • Inflation bag
  • Storage bag
  • Patch and repair kit with new Aquaseal
  • Tyvek tape
  • Zipper maintenance kit with extra zipper lube

$900. Buyer pays PayPal fees if using G&S. I cover shipping (ConUS only).
