My daughter, 11 years old, really wants to go alligator hunting. This has never been high on my list so I don't know much of anything about where to go, etc. I'm seeking any info I can dig up. I believe she has to be 18 to hunt in Florida but are there other states where she is legal? Guided, unguided? Any info is appreciated. Thanks, C

Texas no age limit, OTC but on private, aka guided. Just google guides

There are some public draw hunts though.

FL draw is in May. No pref points, just bunch of res and NR applying. $1,000 NR license.

You can get a guide and a gator tag without much trouble - they have diff permit stuff for private is all i can guess. Just $$. No issue with her age - she can hunt under your supervision.

You can go to Disney one day and wrestle and alligator the next. Both are pricey.

The best gator counties in Texas require state issued landowner tags and season is sept 10-30.

Guided hunts seem to run about $1,000 up to a certain size and then you pay extra per inch over that. The two I know are $50/inch over 9ft. They also both guarantee a minimum size too.

You can go guided for pretty cheap with guaranteed tags in the low country in SC. Shoot me a PM if you want a link

Field ethos is doing an outrider trip to central FL. I bet they could get her in!

Look at the style of hunting in each state / area too. There’s a lot of different methods used. Some look to be more adventurous and some more commercial harvest if you know what I mean.
