After six days in the Mazatzal Wilderness last week, I find myself wondering if anyone makes an all leather boot, relatively lightweight, sturdy outsole (Vibram or similar) with no Goretex (too hot!). My trail runners got chewed up pretty good in this environment and provided almost no protection from cactus.

I looked through the Crispi lineup (what I'm currently and happily using now) and didn't see anything.

Thanks in advance.

I have the Caminos. I like them. I don't know if they qualify as light, or not. The Trekkers look interesting. The Trekker shows to be lighter than the Camino and to be LL. However, the Trekker LL shows to be heavier than the Camino. Kind of confusing. I wonder why there is a Trekker and a Trekker LL, both listed as LL.

Baker boots might be able to give you the real skinny on them.

For hot, cactus and rock covered areas unlined all leather vibram yellow tag lug soled 6 or 8” leather boot. Low end price Chippewa Cibola then the PNW bootmakers. Used them in some ugly places Brokeoffs and Florida Mts in NM. Good footing, spines wont go thru the sole or foot. Cooler than a 2 layer leather hiking boot. My 6” Chipps weigh 1 lb more per pr than my Salomon Quest 4D

Check out Jim Green boots. Handmade in South Africa, all leather, vibram outsole, stitch down construction, and built like tanks. Plus they’re price great to boot!

Check out the razorback model for what you’re wanting, I bet you’d like it.

I wore non gore tex lol bean crestas and Merrill LL wilderness for years, and you can’t get either one anymore. Barely heavier than my trail running mids but full leather uppers and no gtx. For a heavier stiff boot I used Lowa LL Banffs, which they still make but they’re the Baffin LL. Great boots. My 70yo buddy is a long distance fast packer. Goes all over the country, up to Alaska for a month every summer, and he wears un insulated all leather Timberland style boot with a Norwegian welt. Wears the sole out around here and then takes them down to the cowboy shop and has good vibram soles put on. He swears by them.

My next boots after rave reviews from several friends using them over the last year or so.
