All in One Chest Rig?

I’m wondering if anyone has a good solution for a chest rig that works for everything? Can load it up with binos and a pistol for hunting/scouting trips or load it with a pistol and some fly boxes for a day on the river.

Currently running an invader concepts holster behind my bino harness when I’m out hunting and wondering if I should buy a dedicated fly fishing chest pack and stick with the holster. Or go with something like the HPG.

Thoughts?

Honestly, I would split those jobs. A hunting setup wants bino protection and a clean pistol draw, while a river setup wants flatter storage you can work one-handed with wet hands and not care if it gets slimed. The "do everything" rigs usually end up too bulky for casting and not all that great for binos once you start stuffing fly boxes in them. If your current holster-behind-harness setup works hunting, I would keep that and buy a dedicated fishing chest pack.

Some of these chest rigs are getting as big as small back packs now.
I'd say pick up a hill people gear knock off from amazon. See if you can fit all your stuff in it. Don't like it your out less than $30.00.
I bought a knock off as mentioned and its as well built as the big names.

So I'm currently going through the same deal, but mine is because I live close enough to work that I want to walk to work but want some "supplies" for if someone decides they want to get too friendly. I also want it to be dual purpose where I can use it in the woods as well, carrying binos and range finder.

I ordered the AGC Rascal, Marsupial multipack and FHF chest rig with their big pocket.

The AGC is big but it's one big compartment with a couple smaller organizing pouches inside but it also comes with bino tethers, also has a pocket on the back for the pew pew. They market it as a fly fishing rig as well. It was returned.

The Marsupial mulitpack was smaller than I thought it would be, so that one was pulled out of the packaging, unzipped the pockets and it went right back into the packaging to be returned.

The FHF chest rig is a nice chest rig but it's also small, it's one big pocket and even with the outer pocket, it's still not going to really suit what I'm looking for. That one will be returned as well.

I'm also thinking of just using my bino harness instead, it's set up with the "supplies" already, I can take the binos out and have a compartment to stick snacks and other little needs for the day at work.

I've looked at the HPG stuff, but it came down to the same thing as the other 3 that it didn't look like it would do what I was looking for.

I've spent a stupid amount of time trying to figure out what I'm really looking for, at the end of the day, it was probably the AGC Rascal that would have fit my needs the most but that was returned, so oh well.

Have you guys considered a split rig? I’ve been toying with one lately for hunting and general shenanigans in the woods.
That's the most logical thing to do, with my bino harness already set up how I want it, then have the chest rig for general shenanigans. I was just hoping to find something dual purpose.

Definitely looking like that’s the best choice. That’s what I run for hunting now so I might as well just get a dedicated fishing chest rig to run over my holster.

go with something like the HPG.

The big HPG kit bag, the one made for cameras. Its awesome. Carries a glock 26, big ass poro binoculars, and other shit, easily and comfortably. Carries less stuff really well also, because its fairly flat. The problem with it is stopping yourself from putting way too much crap in it and making it heavy as hell. It comes with straps to tie it into your pack straps if you do get carried away though.

I have an HPG recon kit bag. Not 1000% which one exactly. With binos, rangefinder and release holster, it holds a clipboard and pens for 3D. Pop the molle stuff off and it runs nice.

Carries a 4" .357 with a red dot.

I have been switching to my T&K rig more for hunting

The FHF Chest Rig with wings is a good multi-use setup, including fly fishing, but it's weak at packing binos. You can rig a holster to ride vertically using the back pocket or add a Guardian chest plate to the back for a holster. I have used an HPG Recon chest pack as well, but the FHF harness is the most comfortable one I have found.

I run a AGC bino harness for binos when hunting. I actually use it for a lightweight pack when hunting (replace the binos with a range finder, 0.5L of water, and snacks for no backpack day hunting). I always hip carry a pistol when hunting, I don't like it on my bino harness. I like to be able to carry anything from a P365 in the Midwest to a 44 Mag Out West. I don't want to reinvest in multiple holsters for different pistols and also HAVE TO carry a chest rig when I want to carry my pistol.

I have found a sling bag tucked up tight works great for me fishing when I'm not wading. It's easy to get on/off. For wading I would go with a dedicated fishing chest pack. I would never want to stink up my hunting chest rig while fishing. Also a hunting chest rig needs multiple large pockets while a fishing chest rig needs a whole system to flip out and attachment points for tools so you don't drop crap in the water.

Every time I've tried to do a one-size-fits-all type solution I end up going back to specialization. Currently have a Marsupial for the binos and HPG for the fishing. Really like the HPG for that sort of stuff.
