All day sits

In my area and when I was off 3 days midweek, I was sitting all day sits from now until Nov 4 or 5th. Activity was minimal first and last light. Between 9-2 was when I would see deer moving more.

Pre Halloween I don’t mess with mornings for mature bucks unless it’s very cold and I know I won’t get busted coming in.

I will do all day sits starting November 1st, but it’s weather and spot dependent. Usually around the 7th is “the best” around here for all day action and I try not to burn my best stands before then.

By the 12th/15th it’s harder to catch bucks cruising (chasing/lock down time).

Unless there is a lot of hunting pressure where people are bumping deer, I rarely do all day sits anymore.

I have killed very few deer mid day and have tried hunting mid-day for a decade. The juice simply isn’t worth the squeeze 98% of the time.

Public land, I’m sitting all day. For sure.

I hunt when I can, so I try to be hunting all day no matter what.

I killed the biggest buck of my life sitting in a stand at 1pm

We had a crazy bad day of rain one time at my place. It let up about 1PM and I went out to one of our stands, and killed the biggest WT of my life not 15 minutes on the stand. The 2 other biggest on my place were +/- 1 hour from noon . It happens.

I've done all day sits and been successful once. At this point, unless it starts snowing or I've seen a buck working a doe after 930 where they are likely to move before evening, I doubt I'll sit all day this year. However, that's based on hunting the same ~200-acre area for 20 years. If I was hunting new or unfamiliar areas, especially during peak rut, I'd sit as much as possible.

I hunt to have fun, and sitting all day isnt fun. Therefore I think it’s stupid and I generally dont do it. Not saying it doesnt work, just saying thats not why I personally hunt. If you enjoy it or the result is worth it to you, by all means knock yourself out. If Im going to be out all day, 999 times out of 1000 I’ll be moving for a significant portion of that day. That keeps me smiling and happy and a LOT more motivated.

Also outside of short after/before work local hunts I generally hunt larger timbered areas in the mountains of northern new england, so I have elbow room to move without bumping into other hunters or people.

I will do all day sits if the conditions are too loud to move without blowing everything out. This is usually frosted leaves or crunchy snow.

I already commented once, but my last two bucks were killed at 11 am on a rainy day and 4 pm on a clear bright windy day during KY rifle season. Last year, early muzzleloader weekend in Oct, all the deer I saw were between 9am and 4 pm. Of course, many factors come into play, but deer move all day, every day. They may not always move far, but they move.

OP are you talking about sitting all day in the same spot or being out hunting all day but doing so at 2 or 3 different stands

Dark to dark same stand. I think this is my 40th year so not new at this. Just going through a new phase where I'm hunting less but makeing the most of the day. I've done all day sits just looking for some motivational stories.
