Called this 46 LB male in with the FoxPro. I spotted him about 50 yards out in the brush. He disappeared and circled around to my right and came after the mojo decoy. Shot him at 30 yards with the Marlin 22mag.
If I know the area I'm hunting and know that shots will be 75 yds and under I'll use the 22mag. For bigger openings and potentially longer shots I use the 6x45 or 22-250.
The rimfire has limitations, but it works great in close and there is no pelt damage.
In the picture of the carcass, there is a wad of dark gray hair next to the front leg. I found that inside the stomach and could not positively identify what critter it might have eaten. It seemed to resemble lynx fur, but not exactly. Maybe a housecat or another unfortunate pet, as I was within a few miles of some residences.
