Alaska brown bear season….updated as season progresses

Two of last weeks bears. One mid 7’ and one mid ‘ boar take seperate hunts.
Weirdly enough guys aren’t real excited to shoot black bears an we have plentyyy of those!

We had a bear that we were unable to recover this week. That’s always a rough deal, hunting brown bears over bait is intense when it comes to shots. Imagine sitting half asleep all night, your head bobs in tiredness and you look up and it’s time!! It takes a half a second to go from zero to 200! It’s crazy and sometimes guys don’t get the best shots on the bear.
We have some great bears still showing up on camera. Two clients headed out this week!

Yep we lost a brown bear too this spring. You’ve always been transparent which is refreshing in our industry. Losing animals sucks but it does happen. Thanks for sharing your season with us!

Got another one down. Ran quite a ways. So we le him soak for a hour or two. Found him by the smell. Gut shot bears have a special..uh….parfum….

I have two clients left. Today I took off in the plane from one camp to help find the last bear. As I hit the throttle to blow outa there the client and guide said the monster boar we had been waiting for stepped out, saw the plane and left. Uhg. My heart dropped when I heard!!! Five minutes and we wouldn’t had a great bear down!!! That’s the way it goes, hoping and praying he shows back up for the guy!!

One more client to go. Next to last got himself a super furred up bear and a black bear on his trip. Baits are soaking alone for a few days before the last client of the year who comes in on Saturday. Been a busy two months of flying over 200 bags of dog food!

First client of the season has come and gone. Baits are getting worked over fairly well. Three baits currently going and one is running 2-3 bags of dog food a night so I’m busy flying.

Clients bear approx 25” skull and a shade under 9’ is my guess. I never put a tape on it.View attachment 881758

So far my archery guys I believe are 100
Percent shot opportunity on a brown bear. Heck even I did it once with old archery gear…lol so anyone probably can!

Took my daughter out for her first big game animal. Took the pastor out who did my wedding, fun when you can pay with “a free black bear hunt” coupons. I have a heck of an office to work in. Very blessed.
