Alaska Airlines and firearms case

I've flown with Alaska Airlines for thirty-five years, and I have never had an extra charge for size dimensions of my rifle case (which is under 50 lbs), ever. It's simply treated as one of my checked baggage items with the exception that I sign the small form affirming that it is unloaded, place a copy of that form in the case, and then take the case over to TSA for final inspection, case closure, and locking...and then it's off to baggage via TSA.

I suggest that you not concern yourself with this...simply check-in, declare you have firearms in the rifle case, and follow their directions.

I have taken multiple rifles, bikes, skis on AK air. They have charged me for overweight, but never oversized— even for 215cm long skis, and a cargo bike that was in two bike bikes duct taped together. You might get a stickler but I wouldn’t sweat it.
