Hey guys!

Like many people I am sure, I ordered a Seekins havak M3 back in February and keep being told the date is pushing each time I call. I am to the point now of buying a ready to ship rifle from Alamo unless I can find the Seekins I’m looking for relatively quickly. What is everybody’s opinion on this? I was torn between going this path or having Unknown build me a tikka. I want the rifle to be fairly light and 7 PRC for hunting North America. I’m having a 300 PRC built for larger game outside of the United States or larger game here as well. Thanks in advance!

They have a great reputation but I don’t know what you gain over having a factory tikka bedded into a stocky stock. Get fancy and have the muzzle threaded.

How hard is it to set your own action in a stockys stock?

I’ve had 3 Alamos. Currently have a 6.5 and I’m picking up my 6cm tomorrow from my FFL. I have nothing but good things to say. All of them shoot fantastic with factory ammo. Fit and finish is perfect and their service is great.

I have owned a couple.
a Maverick and a custom 7Saum they built.
I am not as advanced as a lot of guys on here in regards to shooting…but both rifles shot straight and the customer service was excellent.

Couldn't agree more... I've have had two guns built by APR. Awesome people that will not sell you anything... They just ensure you get what you want. The Altitude build is probably perfect for what you described. I like the AG composite stocks... Call the shop and John will answer all your questions. I picked up my 280AI a couple months ago

Good to go, they chambered a Proof barrel on a Kelbly action for me in 7 PRC. Shoots great.

Thanks guys. How do they compare to Seekins? Is there any comparison?

I have a Seekins on ortder but I've never personally owned one to this point. I have a buddy with a PH2 that he loves. I've only fondled it for a short while and it's very nice. You'll likely save some money getting a Seekins since you're buying one of their production line guns. With Alamo, there really isn't a production standard model. If you order a Maverick or whatever, you can choose the action, barrel, fluting, colors, brake, etc. They have default selections for each model component but you can change whatever you want. Seekins is going to be packaged as is, which in turn will generally be cheaper. Both really nice, just different ways of going about it.

“Pulled the trigger” on an Alamo yesterday. It was on the shelf and besides the color (I like it but seems too tan for my area) I LOVE it and it’s built with exactly what I would want. He also was extremely knowledgeable and walked me through a lot. Said it’s darker in real life too so we shall see!

Seems I'm a little late to the party but will say I've owned several through the years dating back to when they started with trued 700's and Douglas barrels.

I currently have a Def build in 338 Edge and a 6 Dasher with a 7 PRC being shipped out today.

I've had nothing but great service from the start.

I just like to get a few rounds down the barrel prior to serious load development.

Seems many barrels settle in and tune a little easier afterwards.

Not being a reloader, what would you recommend as a good 7prc hunting round?

I don't keep up with factory ammo much but it's hard to beat hornady these days. I'm a fan of the ELD-Ms myself.

If berger is loading for it that would be certainly be worth looking at.

I'm loading 180 Hybrids in mine over H1000.
