Akto
Pros
The Hilleberg brands reputation has been proven through the test of time
I would think the durability is better than the Scarp based on materials and such
Resale Value

Cons
A little more expensive
Only 36" of head room - That means I can barely sit up straight in this tent, but not sure how much of a concern that is for me
Single vestibule
Not sure how this tent would do for ventilation even with the bug net inner on a 80 degree day with no wind

Scarp 1
Pros
A little lighter than the Akto
Cheaper
Wouldnt be surprised if it held up a little better in heavy wet snow because of the 12 oz crossing poles
3 or 4 inches more head room than the akto according to specs
more floor space
double vestibule with more square feet

Cons
Heard some people have issues with the tent being/staying waterproof
I know it can be seam sealed there but not sure I like the idea of that not just being standard
The material of the fly is more prone to condensation build up

When a guy looks at numbers only it seems like the Scarp 1 wins every single time. I've just heard enough questionable things about it that make me think 10 years from now, the akto is the better choice.
This tent will be my do everything tent, from early september with the mesh liner to late season with the full liner.

Any input? Pictures? Anyone used both of these tents? I know Aron Snyder has said a lot of good things about the Akto, has he used the Scarp 1?

I've never ran a scarp 1 but after having years of experience with my Akto I would never think twice about spending the money on it if I ever did have to replace it. You don't need to worry about snow on the Akto, I've woke up with a foot of snow on it more than once. As far as the hot weather goes you'll be fine, it vents really well when you open it up. I would like just a little more headroom in it but its just enough to do the job. Only 1 vestibule isn't really a big deal as its pretty good sized. My problem now is I need a 2 person for my daughter to go with as she's getting older and really the only tents I look at are Hilleberg after trusting for all these years. IMO

I haves used a Scarp 1 off and on for 3 years now. I have no experience with the Atko. For me the 2 vestibule and tish more room led to the Scarp purchase. I use both vestibules all the time. A must for me in a tent that size.

I've had zero issues with moisture from the outside. Its been fully waterproof for me. I paid the little extra money and had Henry seam seal it. I have the solid inner not the mesh and condensation is present in the right conditions, sometimes worse then others, but it's never been to the point where it's raining on me like the single wall tarps. Its a solid tent.

I own a Scarp I and have used an Akto, and annually think about selling the TT and buying an Akto. The Hilleberg is just a higher quality tent, and I believe can be made to be lighter than the TT.
