My wife is using a crossbow and needs to travel by air with it this fall. There are zero places to buy a airline travel case locally, so will need to buy online. I see the raven case, as well as a few others at various prices. Anyone have experience with these and care to weigh in on what is the best one out there, best value, likes, dislikes, etc? It's a smaller raven xbow if that matters, intention is to put bow and bolts/heads in the case.
Thanks in advance

Have never flown with a crossbow but guns plenty of times. Id say buy the best hard case you can afford, and then pack extra hunting clothes, butt pads, etc. around that thing and just check the sight before you hunt.

I had to shoot a crossbow this year on a couple of hunts and was forced to abandon my vertical bow completely. I purchased the SKB case for a Mission Sub1 and it’s incredibly big, bulky, heavy and inconvenient. Add to it that you can barely pack anything in it other than the bow, quiver and some odds and ends. Not like a regular SKB for a vertical bow where you can get a good bit of extra stuff crammed in there. Add to the negatives I mentioned, it’s $600 and I had to have it overnighted cause the local shop was sold out. I’ve got the Sitka Nomad that you can put a bow in but I didn’t feel
comfortable taking that route since if the knuckleheads at Delta threw something on top of it, the scope on the crossbow would be the first thing to feel it.

All that to say, I’d just bite the bullet and get the SKB so her hunt isn’t ruined if the bow got damaged but it’s no fun to travel with.
