I am new to these. I want to buy a tile, but I am confused as to how they work. Do I have to be within 250 feet to see the location of the tile? Or can I be miles away and see the location and basically lead me to the lost item.

If a time is like an AirTag is uses phones as a sort of mesh network and wherever the tag is in the network, it transmits its location privately to the tag owner. From anywhere.

AirTags are great. I have one on my dog's collar, my youngest son's bicycle for me to track his whereabouts, and use them when checking bags. Very precise location. I used to have Tiles, but those are only effective if they're within range of a Tile user. That's a pretty miniscule network compared to all of the Apple users within the AirTag network.

I did bike across kansas last year. One night a couple had both their nice Surly touring bikes stolen. They were able to recover them the next day since they had an airtag hidden in one of their bags.

Took the kiddos to Disney World one year and used an AirTag on my son who likes to wander off and explore. Luckily we never had to really use it. But I did test out the tracking ability when I walked off and explored. It’s pretty accurate. Couldn’t hurt to try if you don’t already have a means track a vehicle. The investment isn’t crazy high.

Anyone use them on treestands ?

Haha, man you must hunt east Texas. It would be interesting to see where you could plant one. But would be a cool experiment for those times your tree stand grows a pair of legs and walks off.

An airline lost my gun case with my Can in it. I was able to track it and raise hell when they said they didn’t know where it was
You got your gun case back, just as the airline lost a couple of employees. Good for both side.

Put any thought into installing a hidden kill switch in your truck? Should wire in pretty easy and can put the switch somewhere hidden but easy to get to, like under the dash or whatever. Can't start the truck without it.

I've known people who've done it and always thought about it too. If someone here has any tips on type of switch, good locations for them and which wires to use I'd get even more interested, especially after one of my friends just had his car stolen a couple weeks ago.

I would like to get one for our gun case since we will be flying with it at the end of this month. Would hate to have the airlines lose our rifle on the way to a hunt. Not sure if this is practical or not? I’m technologically challenged.

They are super easy to set up provided you have apple products. also pretty cheap, $25 ish. Can buy them in multipacks. Only hard thing for me was figuring out how to open it To put in the battery. Turns out the top unscrews, not pry off.
