Air Lock Industries Suppressor

Not a whole lot arguing tbac is the most quiet. They just like them because they work, are “accurate”, sound good, etc.

Even tbac admits in their own testing the U7 isn’t as quiet as competitors. It doesn’t matter. Their crowd of folks have brand loyalty to the product (for good reason). They are solid. Work. Have limited issues.

They are no longer the gold standard in suppression though (even they admit it and it doesn’t matter).

EVEN IF Airlocks testing is off and the U7 (during the summit) is somehow 4db quieter than the ZG30….. the ZG is still shorter and lighter, etc. It’s still impressive for what it is (and nearly 50% cheaper btw).

I don’t think we will see that. It will be equal to if not less if I were a betting man.
I may end up with an Airlock but not because of the sound reduction. Ill get one for the size and weight knowing it also suppresses well. The truth is that once the suppressor does its job at a satisfactory level thats all that matters to me. I have a U7 and it works just fine, does everything I want it to do. Is a suppressor that is 3dB quieter going to make any difference? Not to me. But if it is also smaller and lighter then I have a reason to consider it.

The amazing thing about the Airlock design is it offers both small size and excellent sound reduction. As for 3 decibels not making a difference, that is incorrect. It cuts the risk of hearing damage in half.

Pretty sure it is…

It’s pretty much verbatim what you said.
Reading comprehension.

I asked if it was going to make a difference and said not to me. As in I don't care if one can is 3dB louder than another. I didn't say anything about the effects of 3dB on hearing which is what he said I was incorrect about.

Same. As shooter it takes a big difference between cans for me to notice. Other attributes are more important.

Unless your ears are less susceptible to hearing damage than the average person, then it does make a difference whether you realize it or not.

the focus of his post was essentially a 5oz can at 4” past muzzle and 130db at his ear was easily more appealing then a 7” past muzzle can that was 20 oz but 127db. Most would agree with him. Especially after that 26 th mile on day 4 and 4000ft of vertical.
