I know I'm late to this party, but if one were interested in a ZG 6.5, is there some sort of waiting or notification list we can get on? I’m usually pretty patient about these things, however, the commies that just took control of our state are pushing a bill that will impose a $ 500 suppressor tax, and if passed will likely take effect July 1.

Yes here in VA we have a long road ahead of us, unfortunately. This is just one of several terrible anti-2A laws they are trying to cram down our throats, and there’s little we can do now to stop any of it. The lack of voting on the part of gun owners is largely to blame. I don’t want to derail this thread, so just use this as a lesson as to what can happen when people get too complacent. The Bloombergs and Soros’s of the world are taking these same bills from state to state, paying anybody who’s willing to push their anti-freedom socialist agenda. Coming soon to a free (for now) state near you.

Sounds like the Airlock edges out the OG65 in weight, price, sound, and frustration factor (not going to get an adapter stuck or have problems with barrel diameter).

The OG65 edges out the ZG in overall length (0.375 inches), little less heat, (perhaps no effect on mirage though), easier to get (don't have to wait on a drop), and color options.

I bet durability is about the same, both are thin and the extra weight of the OG65 is likely all in the OTB section and not representative of thicker construction.

I have an OG65 waiting to be form4'd, so probably will not add a ZG 6.5 as the difference doesn't sound large enough. But, I will probably get a Nano at some point.

You could still get an adapter stuck in an Airlock, no different than any other can.

There is a difference between on OTB can and flush mount. I can put a wrench on an adapter stuck in a flush mount, not an option with an OTB can.

I have an OTB waiting on the ATF (OG65) and have an AB Raptor, so the getting stuck is not a concern that has kept me away from OTB mufflers (use Rocksett done properly between adapter and barrel and antisieze between adapter and can). But, OTB and flush mount are not the same when it comes to potential issues.

I don’t know if it’s barrel heat or what…but Rocksett didn’t work for me. Swapping stuff around and testing constantly then one day it came off in the can. What I found swapping stuff constantly was that whether an adapter stays in the barrel or the can, just install/uninstall three times. Within that it always has done the opposite one of the times.

For the OG65, use the adapter & socket from UM. For Airlock, use any adapter. Honestly, neither are an issue.

In the end I actually kept the OG65 over the Airlock, bc again they’re largely the same darn thing. I didn’t need both, and a buddy was going to order the Airlock so he bought mine instead.

I spent over a decade putting muzzle devices multiple times a week on rifles used very hard, and when the barrels threads and muzzzle
Devices were degreased, plenty of Rocket was used, and the device was torqued on tight- never had one come loose.

For the OG65, use the adapter & socket from UM. For Airlock, use any adapter. Honestly, neither are an issue.

Yes. Use the US adapter if possible.

FYI here’s an update with regard to mirage.

I’m now done using several rifles as “transformer” guns to test things so I set them up in their final state. Went & shot 20-shot groups with both, then adjusted scopes & shot ten at both 250 & 650yds to true (long back story but that’s how I do it personally).

It was 51 degrees ambient, brisk 15mph winds. Guns were shot five times then stored upright on a rack in the shade. Never once waited for them to cool (wouldn’t have anyway); by the time I shot five, wrote down the velocities, then walked back to the rack to swap, the rifle & suppressor were back to ambient. Never saw mirage once. Shot 70 rounds in around 90 minutes doing this.

My initial complaint with mirage was bc I’m in TX and generally shoot in the open sun at 70-90 degrees. There’s still a very noticeable difference compared to cans that weigh 10+ ounces, but once it’s cooler these lightweights can hang in there just fine. Thought you guys might find that helpful.

Nah…tbh I used it sparingly then put the adapter on by hand bc it’s the UM one and I don’t own a little strap wrench for it. Let it set a couple days then screwed the suppressor on. Went a couple hundred rounds that way and at one point neither a barrel vice nor channel locks could get it off (maybe they loosened it a bit), so I thought that’s that. Couple weeks later it came right off in the OG 30cal.

I mean, I don’t care one way or the other, I’ve never had issues with suppressors loosening anyway.
