Hey guys, I️ was fortunate to take this bull this fall. A local taxidermist told me at a glance the bull was at least 5 to 6 years old. I️ took a picture of the jaw bone to compare to charts for aging. I️ wish I️ had sent it off to get an accurate age, but this is the best I️ can do now. Looking at charts, I️ think the bull may have been older than 6. When boiling the skull, all of the teeth caps fell apart, and the what was left of the ivories was minimal.

I️ just wanted to get some opinions from you guys who have experience in aging elk as to what age you think this bull is.

Hard to tell what is happening with the premolars but with how sharp the lingual crests are and the limited wear into the dentine I would say no more than 5 1/2. It's hard to say for sure without having it in hand. Congrats on the bull
