AG Alpine Hunter stock

Can’t that PRC do that already?

Yup definitely, but the prc is built a bit lighter and won’t be as sturdy over the bench as this build. The pencil barrel on the prc heats up pretty quick on range days as well. This one should end up in the 9 pound range I think with the heavier steel barrel. I may swap out to a carbon barrel some day with it.

If you have a stock that's too slippery just get a rattle can of clear non-gloss polyurethane and some fine sand. Mask the stock where you don't want it then spray where you do and sprinkle the sand on it. You can get sand in clear or different colors on Amazon. I've done this on a couple of stocks and it has worked great

Sand is super abrasive once there's any wear on the epoxy containing it, I know this from using sand on wooden whitewater rafting decking. Eposed sand on my raft decking will chafe on rubber and nylon straps, plus it will give you some nice road rash if you run bare skin across it quickly. I think a polymer or rubber-based traction additive would be better in the long run for grip without abrasiveness.

I'm going to try Bon Tool Gator Grip Slip Resistant Additive mixed into G-Flex 650 epoxy with some black dye. The nice thing about mix-in traction additives is that they are simply mixed into the epoxy and there's no fussing around with making peaks on the epoxy to add texture.
