Affordable Horus?

Is a reticle like a Horus or EBR-7C available in a hunting scope? With a reticle like that I do not use the turrets. But I haven't seen that reticle available on a scope without nice, adjustable, long-range, PRICEY turrets.

What size scope, what game and what ranges are you hunting? What is your idea of affordable in this case?

A reticle like that is imo pretty useless on a 2fp scope, and most reticles like that are very fine, which limits their ability to be used at shorter and mid ranges (ie a lot of hunting for most people). Thats my opinion, lots dont agree. Regardless, I have not seen many tree reticles on scopes without turrets made for dialing. To me, at any ranges where you actually need a significant wind call, dialing is virtually always better.

There are some 2fp reticles with cleaner “bdc” type reticles (bushnell doa400 or something like that). I dont like them at all, but a few folks I know like them. Problem with these is they only work at max magnification, and the hold points are irregular so harder to memorize, and the gaps between are too big for moderate ranges in many cases, and the wind hold dots are virtually invisible. Id rather have a ffp mil dot in those cases

maybe I should not have said "hunting" scope. I just used that phrase to mean a scope without expensive dial-a-shot turrets.
This scope would be for shooting targets not game.
I trust myself and an etched reticle more than I trust myself and turrets.

Not sure you’ll find one like that with capped turrets, thats just not how 99% of the folks out there do things, so its not how scopes are footprinted. I’d just get the most popular budget ffp scope that meets your needs, and if you dont trust the turrets, dont use them. If you resell at any point down the road it’ll be an easier sale with the turret anyway. Midas tac, diamondback tactical, or similar are popular options in that category. Have not seen too many more affordable options than those in ffp. At that level of scope I think its the ffp that adds to the cost as much or more so than the turret.
