Right now, It’s the Aero Solus barreled 6 creed in a KRG chassis. I think it’s the Trigger Tech Field, I turned down low, so I think about 2+ pounds. I ran it with my Ultra 7 on it.

I will update as I play with it. Besides a new 22 Creedmoor barrel coming, I have a mag bolt face, 25 SST barrel and VG2.

My sample of one is good so far. I also handled all of their models at SHOT and liked them.

The bolt is smooth, you can bind it if you try. Makes me really want to try the Obsidian model and the Ultralight.

This Solus action has the possibility to permanently make it into my personal safe. My must haves are short bolt throw, easy bolt lift, easy bolt run, and for Rem 700, a savage small shank. Only time will tell.

For my first range trip a week ago, I threw on my TenMile with high rings and loaded some Hornady 105 bthp over 49 grains of SW 4350 and zeroed. I had a target at 500 ish, and just went for it guessing on velocity. Without a berm I shot a few, and finally got a visual clue and then was able to connect once and call it a day. There was nothing more than 5 or 6 mph winds. I was only there scouting the spot for the AZ Rokslide meet up.

The second trip was yesterday for the RS AZ meet up. I didn’t have time to reload this week, so I bought 5 boxes of Hornady 108eldm match ammo on my way to camp.

I donated my target on the 100 yard board for zeroing as guys were getting lots of rifles set up. So, in the morning for fun, and without zeroing or chronoing, I shot at 1000 using corrections based on the bullet splash on the hill.

@NSI was spotting and had to give me some big corrections, but pretty quick the rifle was smashing 1000. Wind was variable enough to require corrections, making it fun but not impossible. Calls went from 1.5 mils to 3 mils. Eventually I ended with 2 mils dialed on my scope.

I have had rifles in the Bravo chassis before and always like them. I like the Bravo better than full on chassis rifles. With a 26” barrel, it’s on the heavy side and great for the range and some competitions.

After lunch, I zeroed and then shot a sub MOA group of 5 rounds I chronoed at 2917 with I think 17 ES. Then, @NSI had a break and I called him over to walk me out to 1000 again. With the info set up into AB using their CDM, custom drag model, the elevation was pretty good to go.

His wind calls walked me through targets from 400 out to 1000 with solid hits and confirming each distance with 1 to 5 shots. There were some misses mixed in. I had to take a few tenths out of elevation to get on at 1000. I ended back with 2 mils on windage.

I think I ended that session with 4 shots in a row at 1000. The rifle was hammering.

The following will help show how easy the Solus was to shoot as configured.

With the rifle doped, I wanted others to shoot it. I think it was 3 or 4 of the shooters there who got first round hits at 1000 from prone.

At the end of the day many had left and a few of us we were doing drills and messing with other shooting positions we used for hunting. The sun was dropping and the winds were changing direction.

I wanted to show off my old man version of prone. I am old and stiff, so I practice mostly upright shooting positions with my tripod. I have high rings and am not ashamed of it, lol. I almost never shoot prone any more.

I wanted to try a position I have been practicing with the Solus at 1000, after not being able to get stable with only front support at NRL hunter matches.

The technique is two knees high kneeling, so it works for stiff necks. I rested the forend on the tripod and ultralight tac table @NSI brought. I also borrowed his walking sticks for rear support.

So still doped for 1000, I think I had about 4-5 misses as @NSI and @mxgsfmdpx figured out the new wind call, and probably a bad shot or two from me settling into the shot.

I was hitting just off both edges, and they both said, that I was within “the cone”. I think they figured that’s as good as that position would get, because I had tried some stuff that ended like that earlier, lol.

But, at that point I had their wind call and was settled into the shooting position. Without breaking my position I went four straight and decided I would stop before I missed again.

A couple of us talked about what Jeff Cooper said, only accurate rifles are interesting…

This one is interesting, so I’ll definitely keep it for a while and play with it.

Pics are of the rifle where we were shooting it prone off a bag on top of an ammo can. I used the Triple S Pillow and a couple 2-5 Ultralight to prop up my chest to get into position easier. The other is of someone else trying my old man position.

As 60 degree 700s go, I was impressed by the light bolt lift, resistance to binding, and reliability during our wee sandstorm. At 13 pounds scoped in the bravo, recoil in 6cm was nonexistent.

@hereinaz clearly got along with it too - here’s some close up of his old man prone technique that I’ll be practicing with.

I'm pretty sure it was the equipment and the spotter calling the holds that made it possible for me to make those 2 shots. It was inspiring for sure and now I have the bug to buy a Solus in 6CM.
Always need a good trigger yanker, and you smashed it buddy!!!
