Sorry for your loss, very difficult situation.
I am a paramedic and have a decent understanding of AED use, and have used them on may occasions. In a situation like yours, that far from care, it’s tough. Even with all the tools at your disposal that we carry in the ambulance, that can be tough for crew of guys. Of all the life saving equipment I could carry, I place an aed pretty low on the list when getting medical professionals on scene can take so long. Unfortunately we can’t always fix everything in the field, and I am familiar with the helpless feeling you describe.
