I would just make sure that you have your own vehicle, your own shelter, and your own gear so worst case scenario you can do whatever you have to do. That way they can do whatever they want to do, and you can do the same if need be.
Yes I agree. It is no fun hunting with someone who gives up easily and wants to go home early. I will not go out west with a guy unless I'm certain he will hunt hard and stick with it. I would much rather be hunting alone than with someone who holds me back.

Going alone can also be tough. On solo trips you find out just how bad you want it. When things aren't going well, it can be easy to talk yourself into giving up a few days before you planned. And there is no one there to give you a pep talk. Ending a big destination trip early leads to major regret in the offseason. Especially if you are paying nonresident tag prices.

A good hunting partner will motivate you to stick with it. You both keep grinding because you don't want to let the other guy down. Somebody like that can be hard to find.

And impossible to replace. I have 2 guys who have some innthe tank when mines empty- guaranteed. Hey know this from experience and the fact that they do well without food and i do well without sleep. Either of those two Is 100% reliable and an asset innthe woods. Everyone else I know is straphanging. I have 2 guys who can come with me to punch my tag, other than my son. Everyone else, I’m happy to go if it’s there tags on the hook- but honestly- I won’t hintwoth most guys no matter who had the tag- simply because most guys won’t close the deal when it’s tough enough to be a destraction
