You’ll need a guide for bear on Admiralty if you’re not a resident.Potentially heading to admiralty this fall, looking to upgrade rain gear. Any recommendations or tips on the island? Is it worth carrying a bear tag and what is likelihood of a bear encounter?
I understand that your FIL can “guide” you, but that is a draw hunt- DB077 for the 3 permits available. It is a registration hunt- RB077 for your resident FIL. You may participate in this registration hunt if you hire a Licensed guide. See page 51 of the current regulations. DB077 is a relatively easy hunt to draw, but application must be made in late fall.Father in law will be with me, I grew up in Alaska and I am pretty familiar with the laws. I am just curious if it’s worth grabbing the $1000 tag. It is OTC from what I gather from the regs.
Thank you for the clarification! I was looking at the regs and assumed registration was an otc type hunt.I understand that your FIL can “guide” you, but that is a draw hunt- DB077 for the 3 permits available. Very High density of bears on Admiralty, your FIL should get the RB077 tag just in case a bear gets camp curious. Good luck in your deer hunt.
