Adjustable Sight Hitting High - How to fix?

I shoot a Spot Hogg Fast Eddy XL. It's a 3 pin adjustable. I'm hitting slightly high at every yardage after installing my sight tape. It's about 4 yards high (on the tape) at every yardage. My question is, can I simply adjust my floater pin (40 yrds) so it's hitting where it should be? OR do I need to move my sight tape? I don't have any extras, so I'm trying to avoid this.

The answer is, it depends. I would start with get your 40(moveable) pin hitting where you want it. Then move your tape to indicat you are at 40. Then shoot to verify your tape is on. If it isn’t you probably need a new tape. It is rare to have the tapes match up at every yardage unless you build your own.

I'm shooting high, so at 40 I have to set my sight to 36 and at 90 I have to set it to 86.

All you need to do is move the pointer. Its adjustable. This only works if the yardage difference is the same at all distances.

So get dialed in at 40 like you have been then move the pointer down from 36 to 40. This should solve you problem.

I tried this. Unfortunately I don't have enough adjustment in my pointer.

Moving the pointer, the tape, or the pins will all do the same thing, but the first two are typically easier (for multi-pin sights).

Then just remove the tape and reposition it. You can always use some clear packaging tape to keep it on the dial.
