Addressing Kuiu Harness Shortcomings?

I have really enjoyed using my Kuiu harness. It is sleek and sits tight to my chest which is very important as a bow hunter (don’t want the bow string to contact harness).

But now that I use my binos on a tripod very often, it seems as though there needs to be a strap that runs perpendicular to the bino straps that will stop the straps (against the front of my neck )from falling behind my back once I unbuckle my binos.

Does anyone have a good remedy?

Clip them together, they keep the buckles opposite for that reason. I always wore mine up higher on my chest, so doing what I suggest would semi-choke me if I moved too much....

On the Kuiu harness I have and on the pictures that’s on their website, it looks like they are the same buckles (both female when you unclip the binos) so I believe I wouldn’t be able to clip them together?

I’m probably going to sew something to connect the straps to the pouch rather than the binos. It gets too annoying going on and off the tripod. Especially if you have to get off the binos and on the rifle quick!

Well that’s new I guess, I haven’t owned o e for about a year, but they used to purposefully have opposing buckles so you could clip them together.

I completely agree

Completely agree. Cannot understand a company that brands themselves as western style hunting gear specialist has not addressed the strap issue. Remove your binos and either loose the straps down your back or have the bino bucket flopping around. There is a fix in the DIY section of Rokslide (thank you to the author of this post). I cut two small slits in the back of the bino bucket and worked the little plastic tensioners from the bino strap through the slits. Then I rotated the plastic pieces so they would pull flush against the inside back of the bucket, the cannot come back through the slits. Next I sewed a couple straps to the harness to attach the binos to the harness (like many other harness designs). These straps have buckle releases so I can quickly get the binos out for mounting to my tripod. Total cost for me to fix....$2.50.

Now the bino harness is damn near perfect for western style glassing and spot and stalk hunting.

Weird, the 2nd video on the product page shows him clipping the 2 sides together and some of the pics in the field (easier to see on the Vias pics) also show opposing buckles too. Maybe it’s something they changed with the new HL version?

I have the new version and it has the opposite buckles on the straps so it can be clipped together in front of your neck. I didn’t think it would work well, but it does.

My guess is the photo was a prototype/defect made the one one would typically think to, with matching buckles.

The original bino harnesses (like the one I've still got) did NOT have the opposing buckles so you could snap them together (and there's really no way to retro fit them outside of sewing something on them - you can't simply change out one side of the buckles). I'm not sure when they changed, but the current harnesses do have the opposing buckles so this is no longer an issue.
